Why This Orthopedic Surgeon Recommends Alpha-Lipoic Acid

Hi, Dr. Meredith Warner here:

For those that don’t know me, I’m an Air Force Veteran and have a private Orthopedic Surgery practice in Baton Rouge, LA.

For as long as I can remember, I have been telling my patients about the power of Alpha-Lipoic Acid. I’m so happy I can share it now with those outside my clinic doors.

If you incorporate Alpha-Lipoic Acid into your wellness regimen, you won’t be disappointed.

This simple supplement has a wide range of benefits due to its antioxidant nature: including improving energy, reducing nerve pain, enhancing mental clarity, and even assisting with sustainable weight loss.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid

This antioxidant is unique because it’s both water- and fat-soluble, meaning that it can reduce free radical damage on, and within, the cell membrane. This makes it uniquely effective in targeting free radical damage in places where other antioxidant supplements can’t.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid is truly one of the most potent antioxidant supplements available today. Since most of us are under some amount of oxidative stress, or feeling the effects of low-grade inflammation, it’s generally a good idea to increase your antioxidant intake through supplementation.

"The root cause of many of the diseases and dysfunction I see in my clinic boils down to two things: unchecked chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress. This daily supplement is a perfect way to reduce the harm of low-grade inflammation and free radical damage, so you can secure foundational wellness long-term."

Alpha-lipoic acid is great for improving cognition

It helps to reduce the burden of oxidative stress throughout your body, so you will experience less inflammation and pain over time – in a lasting way.

HEALTH GOAL #1
ENHANCED ENERGY OUTPUT

Alpha-Lipoic Acid plays an essential role in the way your cells produce energy. With this supplement, the mitochondria in your cells are supported to function more efficiently, enhancing more efficient energy output.

HEALTH GOAL #2
REDUCE OXIDATIVE STRESS

Alpha-Lipoic Acid fights oxidative stress on two key fronts. It’s highly antioxidant in itself, giving you an added daily boost. It also supports your body’s production of its own antioxidants.

HEALTH GOAL #3
RELIEVE DIABETIC NEUROPATHY PAIN

In Europe, ALA has been used to help reduce symptoms of peripheral neuropathy – the nerve damage that can be caused by diabetes.

Reduce Nerve Pain + Improve Cellular Health

As a physician, Dr. Warner treats a lot of patients suffering from neuropathy – either from entrapped nerves or diabetic nerve pain.

One of the natural medicines she recommends for these patients, in conjunction with prescription medications, is Alpha-Lipoic Acid. This supplement has been prescribed for years in Europe for those suffering from nerve pain.

This powerful antioxidant is effective for reducing neuropathic pain by improving the oxidative health of brain cells, enhancing their function, and reducing inflammation along nerves at a cellular level.

It can also help regulate your glycemic load, stabilizing blood sugars, and making this a perfect well-rounded supplement for diabetic neuropathy.

It’s a great daily supplement for those not suffering from nerve pain, who simply want to improve cognition and improve their oxidative health for long-term wellness.

"I recommend Alpha-Lipoic Acid to my patients suffering from nerve pain - but this is a great supplement to take even if you aren't suffering from neuropathy."

Oxidative Stress: What It Is + How It Impacts Your Health

My goal is to help people age better, age fitter, and enjoy their old age. We’re all going to get old. You can’t stop that.

Meredith Warner, MD

Oxidative stress occurs when your body has difficulty breaking down free radicals. For example, when you breathe in, oxygen molecules are broken down. When unpaired electrons, the building blocks of molecules, are released during this process, they can wreak havoc on the body. Your body naturally releases antioxidants to capture these electrons, but a variety of factors can impact your body’s ability to create them.

Lifestyle choices, environmental factors such as pollution, and more can impact this process, causing oxidative stress.

Oxidative stress in the brain and nervous system leads to pain, decreased cognition and a decline of motor abilities over time. The body has a certain capacity to combat oxidative stress, but this decreases with age along with the lifestyle factors mentioned above.

Worse still, oxidative stress generally increases as we age. In my opinion, anything that helps us to fight oxidative stress should be explored and considered.

How to get results with natural medicine

1. Have a mindset of wellness over time: Don’t Expect It To Feel Like A Synthetic Drug. The timeline for better health with natural medicine is longer than with synthetic pharmaceuticals.

2. Addressing Root Cause: Natural remedies attempt to address the root causes, or the cellular beginnings of a given problem, pain, or inflammation. Naturally, this will take a bit longer and be less noticeable initially. But the results are wonderful.

3. Few Known Side Effects: My Well Theory products are formulated with higher doses of plant-based ingredients to deliver steady results over time – without the harmful side effects found in traditional pharmaceutical applications.

4. Get Blood Work Done: There are inflammatory markers you can check to determine your progress.

5. I Take Everything We Make: I wholeheartedly believe in the power of natural supplements.
